Commercial space

Good commercial areas and shops design have to effectively guide customers and successfully generate buying and selling behaviors. Lighting planning occupies a large portion of the design. Good lighting can easily guide customers and keep their eyes on key areas. Lighting is like a good shopping guide for commercial spaces. How to do a good job in commercial lighting design and planning? First of all, we have to understand how commercial areas and shops divide different areas and then provide suitable lighting accordingly. Next, we will propose different lighting needs according to the path after entering the shop.

Display window

The display window occasionally changes according to the season and fashion, so the flexible and easy-to-adjust lighting design of the window is very important. The color temperature of the light in the window will change according to the color of the display items. For example, the color temperature of neutral white (4500-6000K) is recommended for summer products. On the contrary, the products for winter can be matched with warm color temperature (2700-3500K), which will make people feel warm and cozy, and even increase consumers' desire to enter the store. For the emitting angle part, the design with higher illuminance will attract more attention. Therefore, the items in the window usually cast small angle projection lights from at least two directions and use vertical lighting to evenly illuminate the back side to make the object more vivid. Lighting design involves many different perspectives, which will vary according to the interior design or the brand image.

Entrance

The shop window attracts people's attention, so the people enter now. The entrance is another key point to attract customers. The lighting at the entrance is usually recommended to be 3-5 times the illuminance (about 1000-2000lux) of other areas. Considering the discomfort caused by glare to customers who have just entered, luminaries with glare-less design will be a must here.

 Highlight countertops

Highlight countertops are usually set in the center of the sales area, so it is necessary to provide lighting from at least two directions to ensure that the entire area is illuminated uniformly. In addition, the illuminance of this area is much higher than other areas, which can attract the most eyes-balls to stay. The shop lighting design of some brands prefers to highlight the illuminance of the key display countertops while keeping the illuminance of other areas low. It creates a dramatic lighting effect with a strong contrast between light and dark, thereby emphasizing the uniqueness and value of the brand. The lighting in this area emphasizes the product features and texture.

Open shelves and display racks

Shelves and display racks are the key positions for product placement. There are several ways to make this area more attractive to customers. Adding a recessed light strip as a backlight can enhance the outline of the product, at the same time, the projection light illuminated from the front is still needed. This allows items to be clearly presented to customers, increasing sales opportunities. Ordinary downlights cannot provide a uniform lighting effect on a vertical surface. It makes some dark areas. In order to solve this problem, most people will increase the number of lamps to reduce the dark areas. However, it is easy to produce excessive illumination or uncomfortable glare. Therefore, we suggest wall washer luminaires with optimized optical design to offer better lighting effects for vertical lighting needs.

Illumination and Brightness

Different lighting scenarios create different lighting effects, and different lighting effects are suitable for different commodities. On the other hand, the lighting effect will also vary according to the place, the image of the brand, and the products. For example, a library needs a lighting effect with a uniform illuminance and high color temperature for focusing, while Starbucks (or a coffee shop with a similar brand image) needs to create a relaxed and lazy atmosphere. Usually, the indoor illuminance is relatively low, and the color temperature is also lower (eg 2700K-3000K). According to different space requirements, we provide the following illuminance lux table for your reference.

Example1: Sporting Goods Store

According to the brand image, the lighting atmosphere in the commercial space is so much different. The only constant is that the product area needs to provide enough illumination to make customers notice the products.

1. In the model area, there are usually key products of the season, so the position is always with the highest illumination in the area. Therefore, if the lighting space allows, it is recommended to provide spotlights in two or three directions. The main lighting is at a small angle, and it is brightened. Due to the characteristics of a small angle, the illuminance is high, and increases the chance of attracting customers. In addition, the other direction uses medium angles to fill in the light, which can present the displayed products to customers more effectively and perfectly.
2. Commodity display area is the largest block in the shopping mall. Effectively and evenly brightening the commodity display area can increase visibility and provide purchase desire. Generally, small, medium and wide-angle spotlights are used interactively in this area. It is worth mentioning that, to reduce dark areas in the facade, a large number of spotlights have been used to light up in the past, which not only cannot save electricity effectively but has the risk of excessively high lighting environment. It cannot provide consumers with a good lighting experience. Therefore, for facade lighting, we provide patented asymmetric wall-washing optical luminaires, which can evenly and effectively illuminate the vertical sides. Further, we provide a false color map for you to refer to the illuminance suggestion of the commercial space and lighting simulation effect.

Example2:Korean Fashion Shop

There are many small Korean fashion shops now in the market. Depending on the season, the materials and colors of the products may vary.
The lighting environment with high color temperature provides a cooler atmosphere, which can be used for summer merchandise, giving people a cool and icy feeling.
On the contrary, due to the cold weather in winter, people will intuitively prefer stores with warmer colors. At this time, providing a light environment with a color temperature of 3000k, which make customer feels warmer when wearing those products on them, has a great opportunity to increase sales opportunities.

For example, in summer, we feel hot when we see torches (warm colors), but feel cool when we see the sea (blue, cool colors). To change the color temperature and atmosphere of the shop, you don’t need to spend a lot of time or money to change the luminaires. You only need to press a button on the AMO wall panel to change the different scenes, AMO just does it with one click.
